BRIDGE Paper Receives Honorable Mention Award at CHI 2014
12 May 2014
We are pleased to report that the BRIDGE paper on Help Beacons, presented by Amro Al-Akkad, Fraunhofer FIT, at CHI 2014 last month, received the Honorable Mention Award!
Receiving an Honorable Mention Award indicates that the paper was identified by the CHI Associate Chairs as being among the top 5% of all submission. CHI 2014 is the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, a premier international conference on Computer-Human Interaction, which was held in Toronto, Canada, 26 April - 1 May 2014.
The paper, entitled Help Beacons: Design and Evaluation of an Ad-Hoc Lightweight S.O.S. System for Smartphones, was co-authored by Amro Al-Akkad, Alexander Boden, Andreas Zimmermann (Fraunhofer FIT), Leonardo Ramirez (Fraunhofer Headquarters), and Dave Randall (University of Siegen).
Besides, on April 29, 2014, Discovery News published an article on Help Beacons and earlier this year the concept was featured on NewScientist.com, Gizmodo.com, and Endgadget.com.
We congratulate Amro and his colleagues to this outstanding success!
